12:01 am - Salut. Comma Ca va?
Well it’s about time I updated my blog and since someone requested for me to update it, I SHOULD!
Well so what happened?
Ermmm, I FINALLY started school.
Uni is definitely a biiggggggg LEAP from JC. First, the campus is uber big, so it’s like walking a marathon if I have to go end from one of the academic building to the other. So there’s my calorie burner. Hmmm, and the workload is shocking for the first few weeks of the Semester. Well, for one, there are tons and tons of readings to do ( which I can’t be arsed to read at the moment). But I suffer in the end because I have been fortunately or unfortunately borned with the BLUR look, so on most occasions, tutors will target me. And it doesn’t help that I suffer from what I term as ‘delayed response’ because I take like 5 seconds to digest what the question was and It involves and and tutor staring at each other. Not a good sight. HARH.
Uni is like meeting a new friend everyday, seriously. One will make lots and lots of acquaintances but it’s really hard to find a close friend whom u can rely on. Most of time, students at uni are like roaming cattle, moving around… very.. What’s that word.. Oh yes, nomadic.
The Quality of Food ranges a whole and lot and the choices are aplenty. So I’m not complaining on that but good food comes at a price or maybe I’m just dumb and I haven’t found cheap, good food.. yet!
On the whole, the electives I’m taking are very riveting! There’s Socio. Module 1 (Person and Society) which has a lot of potential to be interesting. Socio Module 2 (Singapore Society in Transition) which is about Singapore *yawns *. However, it can be interesting because we are ‘instructed’ to view Singapore through the lenses of an outsider and I learned stuff bout Singapore that I didn’t even know (like Singapore Is a highly exogenous society like USA n OZ)… but tutorials have been boring so far, I hope it won’t be and listening to someone who speaks with a thick mat accent doesn’t improve the situation a whole lot. Socio Module 3 ( Social Problems in a Global Context ) is quite fun. The Professor speaks with a very thick American Accent and he is very ‘random’ in Hafizah’s terms, which is true but he’s like sooo funny, in a weird way. And my tutor for that module is also eccentrically charismatic is his own light.. right!
OH YES. There’s French. I was apprehensive about asking this module because a lot of people were saying “Don’t overload your modules in semester 1”[cos im taking an extra module if I take up French which equates to more workload] and like “French is a language, and learning language is not like other subjects it’s going to be hard’ but then again, there were those people who told me to go for it as long as I had the interest. When I think of French, I envision Julia Delpy with her French accent in Before Sunrise, I rewind all the French movies I watched and ya, learning something new and challenging ( euphemism for hard. Harh). And indeed, it is TOUUUGGHHHHHHH. But the tutor is some Frenchman who looks oh so French, with the pointed nose and all. And people have their own idiosyncracies and for him , he keeps saying "hmmm ohhh, hmm ahh" or something like that , it's hard to put them in words but very cute. Haha. And he looks soo much like my friend, Kevin, one of my French friends (sounds almost like French Fries, er?), so whenever I look at him I see him, which is a bit weird. Haha. I’m gonna spend hell of a lot of time memorizing and ingraining those words till they become second nature, I tell u it’s not easy ! but I have a buddy to practice it with, Khung Xing, she’s from JJ too and it was lovely to see her in French Class since I already knew her in school and she’s soo sweet .J And if u think of finding cute guys at French class, I think u would be looking at the wrong place.
OH YES, Neil Humphreys ( my fave author in the world) is going to have a talk at the sch of communications and information on of these coming Tuesday. I would be ecstatic right? But noo cos I can’t make it, why do they have to make it on Tuesday where I have like 10000 lessons on that day? Hmphr.
Had a meeting with Fellow Mendaki Volunteers to discuss about tomorrow’s child minding thing. Basically have to plan activities to keep kids or adolescents occupied while their parents are at a seminar, of sorts. I’m so excited cos I love kids and I love working with the people, namely, Fid and Ghazali because they are very nice people, nice might be an understatement, although I just know them for a week. Harh
I still have a million and one things to do before I sleep. Sighs.
This Entry is full of words, boring right? Haha. I’ll put some pics up tommorow, if I manage to find the time.
Till then, take care. Current Location: Home Current Mood: crazy Current Music: Monster by the Automatic
